Data Engineer 2, Data & Innovation Division

​

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join us in the in the newly created Data & Innovation Division with the following responsibilities:

Report to: Chief Technology and Innovation Officer

​

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the ETL jobs for ingestion and transformation areas of the data pipeline

2. Implement and maintain data pipelines/systems:

• Work with client’s Group Data Initiative team to build ETL/ELT jobs

• Support de-identification activities, performance analysis and bug fixing along the data pipeline

• Work with data stewards in multiple markets to profile/measure data quality and initiate improvement initiatives

• Set up connections between source systems to de-identification tool, staging area and data platform

• Perform daily monitoring of data flow tasks and jobs

3. Works with other functions in MHM and client’s team to design the business intelligence system:

• Work with business analysts to understand key use cases

• Bring experience of managing data warehouses and data lakes to the customer support team

• Collaborate with data warehouse/data lake vendors and other tech related vendors such as AI enablers

• Assist client in providing data dictionary for each source system, by communicating with source system experts

4. Assist in user acceptance testing activities related to data engineering

5. Follows and advocates engineering best practices including culture of process and data quality

6. Capable of independently leading data engineering activities with the clients and platform vendor to run key meetings (internal and external stakeholders), gathering business requirements and workshops to drive communication for efficient project management.

7. Support the development of ancillary areas such as:

• Client education

• Client site deployment standards

Technical Expertise

​

• BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related subject

• 2-5 years working as a data engineer or equivalent role in a data warehouse environment

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, MapReduce, Hive

• Must have programming experience in one of the following languages: Java, Python, or Scala.

• Experienced in relational database design and querying with SQL. NoSQL experience is desirable.

• 2+ years of experience with market standard BI tools such as SAS, QlikSense, Tableau, or Power BI to generate business insights

• Understanding of data governance, data security, data analytics domain.
